Art & Design Foundations Class Samples
This is a student project where their ability to recreate an object or image is tested. Numerous excersizes over the course of several weeks prepare them for this and other projects.
Exercises include studies on all elements of art: line, form, texture, value, shape, and space. You could argue that the students did not use color in their final project, but they did need to evaluate real color from reference and interpet it to a value.
Students needed to select multiple images before arriving on a final decision of what to produce. They were allowed to use a grid if the grid was mostly removed in the final submitted artwork (you will see that some students did not bother with this requirement).
The only other requirements were that the students use the provided drawing paper and fine art graphite pencils.
How were they evaluated?
- Full value scale utilized (within reason based on reference)
- Accuracy (how did the student interpret position, form, etc, and accurately represent the reference?)
- Dimensions, materials, and supplies utilized within the scope of the project (correct paper, graphite, and studio materials respected)
